Race For Life 22nd June 2008

Across the UK Cancer Research UK's Race for Life brought 800,000 women together to walk, jog or run 5km and raise an amazing £60 million in sponsorship for the charity's vital, life-saving work. Friskis&Svettis Aberdeen were proud to do the warm-ups for the Race For Life in Aberdeen.

Senior Course 7th/8th June 2008

A Friskis & Svettis Senior Jympa training course was held in Aberdeen by Sus Andersson an 'Educator' from Malmo. Malmo has the same population as Aberdeen BUT 9% of the population are members of Friskis & Svettis. 9 leaders took part on the course. This is the first time F&S Aberdeen has hosted an official F&S course.

Sus also held workshops on Circuit Jym and Senior Basic for Leaders. Sus was here all week and not only did some Leader programme checks but also took Poolmobility and senior classes for members.

AGM - 27th April 2008

The third Annual General Meeting of Friskis&Svettis Aberdeen took place at Hazlehead Academy on Sunday 27th April 2008. The meeting was chaired by Margaret Smith. We said goodbye and thanks for all your hard work to outgoing chairperson Beverlie Welo and welcome to new chairperson Christine Richardson.

Balmoral - 26th April 2008

  Friskis&Svettis Aberdeen did all four warm-ups for the Balmoral Road Races.

Programme Checking Weekend (25th-27th January 2008)

During the 25th to 27th January one new leader and eleven qualified leaders had their programme checks by Emma Jonsson and Maria Jakobsson F&S Educators from Stockholm. Well done to the leaders involved as all programmes passed with flying colours.

On the 25th/26th January Emma and Maria both led an inspiring master class for everyone
and an informative agility workshop for the leaders.

Svettisdagarna - Inspirational Weekend 17/18th November 2007

Karen, Helen and Rosey arrived on the Thursday 15th November. So we tried out Nick Atkinson's class on the Thursday night and Lasse Lind's class on the Friday morning.

Lairig Ghru Walk - 2nd June 2007

On Saturday 2 June 45 walkers comprising of F&S members augmented by around 15 guest walkers completed the famous Lairig Ghru mountain pass through the Cairngorms from Loch Morlich in Speyside to Linn o' Dee on Deeside. Despite the winds and relative lack of hillwalking experience of many of the company, all completed the 20 mile route in a respectful 8 hours 45 minutes.
